Welcome to Balrothery Tennis Club!
Thank you for choosing our club, we are delighted to have you as a new member. This club is run by volunteers, and we welcome new players, their input and support. All queries for new members are handled by Fiona Farrell Membership Secretary and your captains.
Please check our website and messages (like this one) for updates, ongoing court and light upgradse club coaching and future events and leagues. Our regulations are available in the 'docs' section.
If you are a full member, we ask you to join our main whatsapp group (information only), link will be sent to you on joining.
Updated by committee to communicate to all members, announcing events, competitions etc. (Please ensure your profile name is set correctly, if we cannot validate you as a member you may be removed from the group.)
Note - any social / club coaching events are for full members unless specifically stated.
Please join one of the following groups as applicable, your captain will forward you a invite.
- Mens group
Anthony Mills, Men's Captain, coordinates leagues, ladders etc. for the men.
- Ladies Group
Run by Rosie Duffy, Ladies Captain coordinates leagues, ladders etc. for the ladies.
Court booking. It is club policy that you MUST book a court in order to play, and fill in the name of your opponent(s).
The gates for entrance to the courts are the two single gates on the clubhouse side of the courts, please use entrance and exit as marked and clean your wipe your runners on entry.
A camera is installed on the entry gate, this is a QR code reader that allows you to access the courts with your acebook app. It is avaialble to all members and all registered users with a booking that day.
Gate code as backup is supplied to members.

Mixed Doubles Social
Sunday Mornings 10-12. Pre register online. Run by Jimmy. Ask your relevant Mens/Ladies Captain for further details if you need.
Club Group Coaching
Monday & Tuesday evenings
beginner / improver coaching with Maria Petina, intermediate coaching with Tanya Grazulis. Terms vary, register online, updates on whatsapp.
Flood lights are in operation for member bookings in the evenings and a charge per use will be implemented on the system. (see seperate notice)
Please remove any waste and ensure gates are closed when you leave. Brushes are available to clear courts are required. Please report any damage to your committee.
Please provide your own tennis balls.

Leisure with guest

Booking with a Guest
We have dropped the guest rate to 3 euro per guest for upto 2 hour booking.
Bookings permitted between 7am and 6pm (cancellation prior to booking will give you a full refund)
Select booking type 'Leisure with guest', and select 'Guest (€3) or non member. Please ensure you enter the full name of each guest.
You are responsible for your guest on court. Enjoy your tennis!
Floodlight charge

Dear Member, a charge is applied for use of floodlights.
Lights will turn on as required 30 minutes before sunset. According to your court booking, the lights will be activated for the chosen court 8 minutes before the hour (if not already on) to allow you to access the courts in light. (There is no public lighting in the park). When the booking is complete (and no booking made for the next hour) the lights will dim for 5 minutes to allow you to leave the courts in light. You will be charged 3 euro per hour per court, and portion of same if less than hour, e.g. 30 minutes of lights charge is 1.5 euro.
You can add credit to your wallet in advance of booking. Cancellations of bookings greater than 1 hour in advance will receive full refund.
If you wish to book the subsequent hour to your original booking, please allow time for the light system to catch up. Bookings can be made after the hour has started.
If you decide not to partake in a booking you've made, please delete the booking so lights are not switched on unnecessarily. ADMIN users, please remove block bookings not required.
(NOTE Acebooks updates the light configuration every 15 minutes (from 5 to the hour), and the lights controls check this configuration every 7 minutes. This explains why there is a lag when you book close to the hour, please plan ahead.)

Members are asked to topup their wallet to cover payments fot lights and guests etc.
New Clubhouse plans

February 2021 with the support of Fingal Country Council, the club applied for planning permission (F21A/0103) for a replacement clubhouse and septic. In February 2022 Fingal council received a grant on our behalf from the Sports Capital Fund for 78.5k. We are working with their contractors to commence the project.
System enhancement - sharing wallets

Players using an account (virtual wallet)
Under 'My Profile' (once logged in), players can now share their account with each family member/group of persons, so that they only have to top-up one account. The way the system works is as follows: Let's assume that Player A shares her account with Player B. When player B books a court and is required to pay, if her account does not have enough balance, the system will transfer Player A's account units (to cover the cost) to Player B's account. Player B's account is then used to pay the fee. This way, each player can trace what their account unit was used for.
Under 'My Profile' (once logged in), players can also transfer transfer units manually to any player from the club who also has an account (virtual wallet). This is a useful feature to share the cost of lights for example, when it is always the same player who books courts
